Shop Helper/ Maintenance Assistant

Desert Trailer Systems, Inc. is a leader in the rental, sales, and leasing of new and used semi-trailers. We service the trucking industry with storage, highway and cartage vans, electric and diesel reefer trailers, flatbeds, and other specialty units.

We are looking for a Shop Helper / Maintenance Assistant to join our team for immediate hire! This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, staying active, learning new skills, and being part of a team. No previous trailer or mechanic experience is required—we will train the right person! Must be able to work with a diverse group of people in a fast-paced environment – just bring a great attitude, willingness to learn, and a desire to build a career with a great company. As a Shop Helper / Maintenance Assistant, you will support our semi-trailer shop and help keep our facility clean, organized, safe, and running smoothly. This is a hands-on position with a variety of daily responsibilities, including:

• Assist mechanics with general shop duties and trailer repairs as needed.
• Help load/unload & organize parts, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Keep shop work areas, bays, equipment, and surrounding areas clean and organized.
• Operate a forklift and other equipment when trained and authorized.
• Move equipment, parts, and materials around the yard and shop.
• Maintain cleanliness of shop & warehouse, common areas, and storage areas.
• Assist with landscaping, litter removal, and exterior grounds.
• Drive company vehicles as needed for business-related tasks.
• Assist other team members with daily operational needs and special projects.

Requirements:

• A valid Driver’s License
• Forklift certification/experience a plus but not required
• Ability to lift and move equipment, parts, and materials as needed

Position details:
• Full-time
• Monday- Friday 6:30 AM – 4:00 PM
