Desert Trailer Systems Announces the Passing of Founder Jack Kaslly

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our founder, Jack Kaslly, who passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 21, 2026. On behalf of everyone at Desert Trailer Systems, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and all who knew and loved him.

More than 40 years ago, Jack founded Desert Trailer Systems, Inc. in Phoenix with a vision to serve the transportation industry through commercial semi-trailer sales and rentals. What began as a determined dream grew into a respected and premier dealership. Through hard work, resilience, and an unwavering belief in people, Jack established not only a successful business but a family culture that continues to define DTS today.

Jack was known for his knowledge of the industry, his entrepreneurial spirit, and his willingness to take chances on people when others would not. He believed in helping customers get started, often extending opportunities to those just beginning their journey in transportation. Many of those customers have gone on to build thriving businesses and remain loyal partners to this day.

Remembering Jack

Sherise, a longtime team member, shared:

“I loved hearing all the stories Jack had to share with both his employees and customers. He was always thinking of ways to help people. When Jack hired me, I knew nothing about this industry, and he taught me everything from what a reefer trailer was to financing one. Over the years, he personally helped me through some tough times, and when my son decided he wanted to play hockey, Jack sponsored his registration fees so he could join the team. I am very grateful to have known Jack, learn from him, and share so many experiences.”

Robert also reflected on Jack’s impact:

“I came to Desert Trailer Systems back in July of 2011. I was desperate to get back into the transportation industry and needed someone to give me another chance. I had been away for over seven years and just needed someone to see my talents and my worth. Jack Kaslly was that person. After a long personal interview, he gave me the opportunity to prove myself and welcomed me into the Desert Trailer family. I’ve been here ever since. What I will miss most are his personal stories, not only about his successes, but also his failures. He would take the time to give fatherly advice on tough issues and explain how he learned from those experiences himself. I always enjoyed our one-on-one talks, even if I had heard the story before. He will always have a special place in my heart.”

Eric added:

“For those who knew Jack, they knew he was very giving but also very firm. I had the pleasure of being mentored by him in business not because he sought to teach me, but because he created an opportunity and left the door open for me to take the steps myself. I remember staying late after work just listening to him talk with customers and vendors, and most of all, how he made everyone feel like a friend. He taught me that building trust is one of the most important things in life, not just in business, and that you must believe in yourself before anyone else will. I spent many years listening, conversing, and ultimately learning more than I could ever imagine from Jack. He gave me a second chance and believed in me even after I broke his trust. That shows what kind of person he was. He will be missed tremendously, and I hope I can pour into someone else like he poured into me. Rest in peace, Boss!”

These stories represent just a small glimpse of the countless lives Jack influenced as a mentor, a leader, a storyteller, and a friend. His legacy lives on not only in the company he built but in the people he believed in and the culture he created.

Desert Trailer Systems, Inc. remains committed to honoring Jack’s vision, values, and dedication as we continue serving the transportation community with integrity and heart.
